Me, Myself, and I

The name is Emily and I am old enough to know better, young enough not to give a damn. I'm half black, half white, and was born and raised in New York City. In the city that never sleeps, I often find it hard not to live up to the title. Insomnia ruins many nights, but in many cases, it's where I get my best ideas. I write poetry and stories, and draw from time to time. The first actual instrument other than my voice that I want to learn to play is the guitar. Optimist, pessimist, and super-naturalist, I believe in many things. On either side of the conflicted monarchies of blind faith and science, I am often unsure about which to believe. My natural inclination to use logic is part of what makes me so pessimistic, but when I push logic aside and allow myself to look beyond what is viewable, the intense surreality of the super natural captivates my imagination. I am open to question and debate the beliefs of others, but I am also not afraid to have my ideas challenged. When I am proven wrong, I change my perspectives because I know that I'm not always right. I love to learn and expand my knowledge and vocabulary but school is an absolute nightmare. Sometimes I just have to grin and bear it. Music tends to soothe some of the stress of being human, and I know a lot of you would agree. There is no specific genre that I'm interested in, as long as it has meaningful lyrics and sounds good, I'll listen. So, yeah. There isn't much more for me to tell but if you really want to get to know me, don't hesitate to say hello!
